MY JOURNEY TO DIAGNOSIS

It took me over 15 years to get diagnosed with Cushing's disease. I was thought to have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) the whole time, but came to find out that PCOS mimics Cushing's disease symptoms. I felt such relief when I was diagnosed. There were steps I could take to get this under control. I knew that I could learn to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

OVERCOMING CHALLENGES

I struggled with the weight gain the most. At first, I thought I had poor eating habits. So I changed things up and started eating lean meat and more fruits and vegetables. I also started exercising every day; but it just seemed like the more I did that, the more weight I would gain. I gained 70 pounds in 3 months.

MY MESSAGE TO OTHERS

I wish that people who are struggling with Cushing's disease would know that, even though it's tough right now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
