MY JOURNEY TO DIAGNOSIS
I began my journey before I even knew it. Scans showed that I had been living with a tumor for at least 12 years (since 2011).
Exhaustion to the point of feeling completely depleted day in and day out. Not being able to stay awake or have an ounce of energy the second I hit the couch after work. With kids, I realized I had to do something about it and find answers to the exhaustion. I knew something was wrong and that it had to do with hormones.
Finding the right doctor to help was another challenge. Finally, I found an endocrinologist in my area who diagnosed me with Cushing’s disease.
MY MESSAGE TO OTHERS
Cushing's disease is like a silent ticking time bomb. You can live with it for years before symptoms present. And then it may be even longer before you discover that the cause of symptoms is Cushing’s disease. In my case, I did not have typical features and symptoms, which is why my tumor went undiscovered for 12 years.
